I would like to start by saying how genuinely excited I was to be selected for the L&D programme, as I knew there were limited spaces and this was a great opportunity to develop my skillset further while growing with the company. The course has made it possible for me to stretch my multitasking abilities further and we can easily refer daily situations and the best way to handle them through case scenarios we reviewed during our classes. Additionally, the L5 programme, has allowed me to spend quality time with my role models - the ROMs – and appreciate their input on a personal level from a greater, deeper, business perspective. I would recommend our L&D programmes to anyone ready to challenge themselves in order to grow personally and professionally.

I have been currently enrolled on the professional development programme and as someone who wasn’t a fun of education, I really enjoy this course. So far I have learnt a lot about management, Leadership styles, learning styles, dealing with problem staff and I am overwhelmed with this course. I started this course as a venue manager and I am currently an Area Manager. I’ve been dealing with multiple characters and behaviours and I must say I am impressed with the outcome.

The academy program has been a fantastic learning process so far, It has given me a clear understanding of the different management styles and it has taught me how best to manage and teach my team to achieve great results. Not everyone learns the same and it has been an insightful course so far learning the different methods. I believe it has had a huge impact on how I now run my venue.

Since Joining 6 years ago as a Duty Manager, I have received fantastic support and training allowing me to develop personally and professionally into the position I hold today. As General Manager, not one day is the same as the last, and there is always work to be found. Building enthusiastic and motivated teams, creating friendships along the way, while always offering the highest level of customer service and working together to reach our targets.

As a town manager, at times it has been very trying and demanding but the rewards have made it all worthwhile. I work in is a premium venue with a premium team and nothing is ever too much for any of us. In return, we receive praise and rewards and always have the backing of a great management team along with head office who are always on hand to help ask the question they will provide the answer.

What I enjoy most about my role is the freedom to grow the business, alongside the venue team. I have the support of a great area manager who gives encouragement and guidance in whatever we decide to do. If you are reading this and are thinking ‘is this for me?’ give it a go! I did and honestly haven't looked back
